This week we chat to Dr Rao who was visiting Montreal and hails from Swasthya Ayurveda Village, South Coorg, India. He explains the principles of Ayurveda. For example, the triangle of mind body soul, the 5 elements of air: space, water, earth, & fire of nature and how they transform into our body.
His personal approach is not to diagnose but to asks what are the symptoms someone comes to see him. He analyzes the cause and gives advice. Usually what foods you eat make who you are, “you are what you eat”. So first course of action is food.
We continue to discuss the roles of a routine Yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises). We discuss his visit to Russia and his connection to Transcendental Meditation (TM) developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
